Beauval Indian Residential School
The Beauval Indian Residential School, located in Beauval, Saskatchewan, operated from 1906 to 1996. It was run by the Roman Catholic Church under the administration of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. The school was part of Canada's broader residential school system, which aimed to assimilate Indigenous children by removing them from their families, cultures, and languages. The institution faced significant criticism for its harsh treatment of students, including abuse and neglect. It closed in 1996, as part of a national movement to close residential schools and address their harmful legacy.
